Kelly did not want to be in space. She told Marvin that she didn't want to go to space. She begged Marvin not to make her go into space. Yet... Here she was, drifting in zero gravity and trying to ignore the fact that her organs seemed to have rearranged themselves when they left the planet. "I hate you so much." She muttered, turning glazed eyes on Marvin. Marvin frowned. He didn't understand why Kelly was having such a hard time. She was an alien after all. It's not like this was her first time in space.
"You can't hate me that much. You got on this shuttle with me." He pointed out smugly. Kelly groaned. She unbuckled her belt and pushed herself towards the computer. She began fussing with it. Marvin grinned, and activated the communication array. "Shuttle to ground. We are currently in orbit." Kelly groaned again, while the computer whirred and beeped.
"I don't know what makes me sicker." Kelly growled. "The tech or-" Kelly gagged and then swallowed vomit, which was even more disgusting for her species than for humans. "Nope." She revised in a strained voice. "Definitely the zero Gs."
"You're an alien. How is it that you can't handle a little space flight?" Amelia asked.
"Why does everyone assume that?" Kelly demanded, angrily pinpointed the large ship they'd been tracking the past week. "The last ship I was on was a state of the art science vessel with hundreds of redundancy's in place for safety." Kelly pushed herself away from the computer to the control. "And that one crashed, if you'll recall." Marvin winced. He remembered that night too well: the carnage, the ship, and the only survivor that he found trying to claw her way out from under the wreckage. "This," Kelly messed with the gears, trying to engage the secondary propulsion. "This is a kambel has-te carnap put, that I assembled in a human garage because I was bored."
"Out of other ships that crash landed on Earth." Amelia reminded Kelly brightly.
"Ah, yes, how could I forget that?" Kelly snapped sarcastically. She successfully pulled the lever into place with a thud. Kelly grabbed the joystick, even though the computer was doing most of the work. "I didn't expect you to actually make me take this clunker in to orbit! It don't even have artificial grav- Oh dear." If Kelly was human, she would have turned green. "Marvin."
"Got it." Marvin grabbed the controls. Kelly grabbed a bag and began retching.
"Did she get the right bag?" Amelia asked.
"I think so." Marvin answered, glancing back between Kelly and the screen.
"Well make sure! Her spew could eat through your skin." Amelia snapped. "You don't want that stuff floating around!" Kelly's stomach acid was a lot stronger than a human's.
"I got the right bag." Kelly assured them weakly. She really didn't want to be there.
"You done?" Marvin asked cautiously.
"I think so." Kelly swallowed thickly.
"I can't believe you actually threw up." Amelia giggled.
"I hate you both." Kelly announced.
"No you don't." Marvin nudged her playfully. "If you did, you wouldn't be here, helping us check out this weird ship."
"Maybe I just don't want the planet I'm on to be invaded." Kelly retorted, but she was grinning for the first time since they'd entered orbit. She turned her eyes to the screen and the smile vanished. "Marvin, pull up." Kelly said urgently. Marvin automatically obeyed. He knew better than to argue with Kelly when she talked like that.
"What is it?" His voice was low, even though the behemoth of a ship couldn't detect him even if he yelled the question. Kelly didn't answer. "Kelly, are you okay?"
"Well?" Amelia said impatiently. "Kelly? You said you needed a closer look to figure out what it was, so what is it?"
Kelly stared at the screen. She could barely speak. "It's a Kellian Voyager." Her voice was quiet and disbelieving.
"Kellian?" Amelia gasped. Marvin stared at Kelly. "Then... Is that... Does that mean-?"
"Is it here to take you home?" Marvin asked. Kelly looked back at him, then away.
"I don't know."
This one got away from me a little bit. It's pretty fun though. I might continue it.
